Hawaii Five-0 Scoop: Who is Returning?

by Jim Halterman at December 11, 2013 2:07 pm. Updated at December 11, 2013 2:31 pm. Looks like Nick Jonas is booking a return trip to Hawaii Five-0. TV Fanatic has learned exclusively that the singer/actor - who appeared in Hawaii Five 0 Season 4 Episode 8 - is coming back in the new year. Jonas appeared last month as Ian Wright, a computer hacker who escaped the clutches of our 5-0 team. (TV Fanatic was in Hawaii for the shooting of that episode and was the only online outlet on set to talk to Jonas.) "He's coming back in the finale," Executive Producer Peter Lenkov revealed to me this morning. "He was great and he is such a good kid. You imagine a kid who has that much success...he's just a really, really good kid." Details of the story involving Jonas's return are being kept under wraps, but the series has been doing a bang-up job with guest stars this season, including Lost alum Henry Ian Cusick and a Thanksgiving visit from Carol Burnett. Lenkov also talked about what's coming for the series in 2014, such as Grace Park's return, Melanie Griffith's guest arc as mother to Scott Caan's Danny and more. Check back Friday for that story and remember you can watch Hawaii Five-0 online right here on TV Fanatic.

"Five-O" airing episode about Japanese interments in World War II

"Five-O" airing episode about Japanese interments in World War II By RICH HELDENFELS Published: December 3, 2013 A note from series co-star Daniel Dae Kim arrived today. The textt: Dear Television Reporter: Networks often talk about "very special episodes," but episode 410 of HAWAII FIVE-0 is deserving of that description. Rarely do police dramas delve into subjects like the internment of Japanese-Americans during World War II, but this small and shameful chapter in our history is one that reminds us all of a valuable lesson: that we can never measure an American's patriotism solely by their appearance or ancestry. I've never been prouder of HAWAII FIVE-0, and I applaud our producers for tackling a topic that goes beyond a crime of the week. It is my sincere hope that you find this episode, highlighted by some remarkable performances, as special as we do. The episode, titled Ho'onani Makuakane (Honor Thy Father), airs Friday, December 13 at 9:00pm-10:00pm ET/PT on CBS. It was filmed on location at the historic battleship Missouri Memorial and outside the USS Arizona Memorial. http://www.ohio.com/blogs/heldenfiles/the-heldenfiles-online-1.258385/five-o-airing-episode-about-japanese-interments-in-world-war-ii-1.449446

‘Hawaii Five-0’ star Alex O’Loughlin and Egan Inoue team up to teach women’s self-defense class

‘Hawaii Five-0’ star Alex O’Loughlin and Egan Inoue team up to teach women’s self-defense class Actor Alex O’Loughlin, seen here, with Chi McBride, filming a scene for a “Hawaii Five-0” episode that will air on Nov. 15, has teamed with mixed martial arts champion Egan Inoue to teach self-defense seminars for women on Nov. 16-17 at Egan’s Fit Body Boot Camp in Honolulu. Courtesy Norman Shapiro/CBS Jenna Blakely General Assignment Reporter- Pacific Business News Email | Twitter November 7, 2013
"Mixed martial arts champion Egan Inoue has teamed up with “Hawaii Five-0” star Alex O’Loughlin to teach two days of self-defense seminars for women next weekend at his new Egan’s Fit Body Boot Camp training center in Honolulu. The self-defense seminars will be taught by Inoue and his fitness student O’Loughlin, who plays Steve McGarrett on the CBS television drama. The seminars on Nov. 16-17 mark the grand opening of Inoue’s new 3,000-square-foot Moiliili gym at 2700 S. King St., building A. The price to participate in one of the 90-minute self-defense seminars is $300 per person, and 100 percent of proceeds will directly benefit the Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children. O’Loughlin has been involved with the expansion of the gym since the get-go, Marcia Inoue recently told PBN. “The neat thing about it is that Alex O`Loughlin from ‘Hawaii 5-0,’ one of my husband’s private lesson students, loves design and architecture, so he spearheaded and designed the whole gym with our input,” she said. Egan’s Fit Body Boot Camp’s new facility replaces Inoue’s former Manoa gym, which outgrew the former 700-sqaure-foot space. Read more about Inoue’s growing business here".

Steve and Catherine’s relationship this season on Hawaii Five-0!

SEPTEMBER 5, 2013 06:10 PM Matt's Inside Line: Scoop on Burn Notice, Arrow, Bones, Revolution, Grimm, H50, Once and More Get More: Matt's Inside Line, Scoop, Spoilers Do you have anything to share about Steve and Catherine’s relationship this season on Hawaii Five-O? –Janet Show boss Peter M. Lenkov told me that Catherine will be going “through a life change” as she leaves the Navy to work for her sorta-ex Billy’s private security company – and with Steve’s blessing. At least for now. “McGarrett, not being the jealous type, is going to insist that she take the job — and he’s going to end up regretting that,” Lenkov chuckles. “You’ll see McGarrett a little vulnerable, which is fun.” http://tvline.com/2013/09/05/burn-notice-series-finale-michael-fiona-spoilers/

HAWAII FIVE-0

PREVIOUSLY ON... | As Kono ran off to China with Adam and Danny reunited with Gabby, McGarrett visited Wo Fat in prison -- having learned that his mother had once, mysteriously, done the same! But just as he arrived, unseen forces came after the enemies, working their way through the cell's steel door... COMING UP NEXT | Who's knocking on Wo Fat's door? "If they made it that far, they're pretty formidable. And if Wo Fat is scared, that's a big deal," says showrunner Peter M. Lenkov. In short, "The people on the other side are a payoff to a larger story." With regards to Kono's absence (she'll appear in "a bunch of" early episodes but won't rejoin the team until about midseason), Five-0 "will feel fractured, like a three-wheeled car" with a key player MIA. Enter Chi McBride (Human Target) as Lou Grover, a SWAT Captain with whom Steve will at one point reluctantly be partnered. "If people thought McGarrett was ballsy and lived by his own rules, they haven't met this guy yet," Lenkov attests. "He's going to give McGarrett a run for his money." Also ahead: More on the Doris/Wo fat connection ("It's not the obvious answer"), a Chin Ho flashback episode, McGarrett comes to regret encouraging Catherine to work for Billy's security firm, and an hour that revisits Pearl Harbor through the eyes of Steve's late grandfather. TVLINE BONUS SPOILER | Lost fans can count on a fun in-joke -- "a little deserted island reference" -- when guest star Jorge Garcia shares scenes with Daniel Dae Kim in Episode 3. Plus: We may get a song from Carol Burnett, when the TV icon pops up as Steve's aunt. http://tvline.com/2013/09/03/fall-tv-spoilers-2013-shows-ncis/#!21/hawaiifive-0/

Keck's Exclusives First Look: Hawaii Five-0's Lost Reunions

Keck's Exclusives First Look: Hawaii Five-0's Lost Reunions Sep 2, 2013 07:01 AM ET by William Keck
Hawaii Five-0 is beefing up Chin Ho's (Daniel Dae Kim) presence in Season 4. One upcoming episode will flash back to his first meeting with his late wife, the circumstances surrounding the loss of his badge and his time under the mentorship of McGarrett's father, John. But first, the season kicks off with a pair of episodes that welcome two of Kim's former Lost costars. Henry Ian Cusick (the time-jumping Desmond) guest stars in the Sept. 27 premiere as the villainous Ernesto, who holds the team hostage. "He's tied in to some baddies we introduced last season," says exec producer Peter Lenkov. Then, in Episode 3, Jorge Garcia (Lost's lovable Hurley) begins a potentially recurring role as Jerry, a conspiracy theorist whom the team consults. "He's going to be sort of the fifth member of Five-0," says Lenkov. "Jerry still lives in his mom's basement. He's the boy who cried wolf whom nobody ever believed, but he finally gets validated." (Kim advises Lost fans to listen for an in-joke regarding island life.) "Ian still lives here in Hawaii, and we have dinner regularly," Kim says. "I was aware of his casting, but I learned about Jorge via Twitter." With Terry O'Quinn also returning this season as Joe White, Kim's Lost-alum wish list is almost complete. "I would love to welcome Harold Perrineau [Michael] and Josh Holloway [Sawyer]," he says, "but now that Josh is doing another CBS show [Intelligence], we might have to do an Intelligence/Hawaii Five-0 crossover. http://www.tvguide.com/News/Hawaii-Five0-Reunion-1069793.aspx

Exclusive look at new Hawaii Five-0 home

Exclusive look at new Hawaii Five-O home Posted: May 20, 2013 10:37 AM PDT Updated: May 20, 2013 10:56 AM PDT By Tannya Joaquin
Hawaii News Now - KGMB and KHNL
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Kono is on the run for a murder she didn't commit and faced with a difficult decision between her boyfriend and Five-O family. The English translation of this episode is "Farewell and Take Care" and the promo for the finale says by the end, "This team of 4 becomes 3." We were granted exclusive access to the new home of Hawaii Five-O. "If I did some snooping around, could I tell. This 4 becomes 3" asked Tannya Joaquin to Associate Producer Angela LaPrete. "Um, It's exciting" answered LaPrete. "You just have to watch. There's some surprises as always." While the stars are on break, there's a lot of action at their new studio. It's the same sound stage where the original show filmed more than 30 years ago. After a move from the old Advertiser building in Downtown to Diamond Head, crews are busy building, painting and prepping sets for Season 4. LaPrete has worked on many projects at the film studio including Baywatch and appreciates the Hawaii Five-O history. She says, "I think it's really cool. It's really come full circle. This is where we should be and should have been all along." Hawaii Film Commissioner Donne Dawson is excited as well. Dawson says, "We are so pleased it worked out for Hawaii Five-O to come home to the Hawaii Film Studio at Diamond Head and we've been amazed at what they've been able to do to make the space ready for them." Hawaii Five-O has built key sets like Steve McGarrett's home, the Crime Lab, and the Morgue where the original stage has been collecting dust as storage space. A brand new facility is going up right now to house all McGarrett's cargo pants, and the other stars' wardrobe. "One of the beautiful things about having Hawaii Five-O back home" explains Dawson "is that they've really been able to take advantage of maximizing space, making it a better facility. That's a benefit to the State and ultimately it's going to be a huge benefit to productions coming down the road." The Hawaii Five-O reboot is the State's most high profile success story right now that shows the upside for incentives to lure productions to film in the 50th State. The show's exposure is a real plus according to Associate Producer and local girl Angela LaPrete. "One of the main things is showing the locale, Hawaii as Hawaii. That's been a really big deal" says LaPrete. "A lot of the productions that come here don't do that. And our crew. We have I think 90 percent local crew." A crew that's rushing to get their new headquarters ready in time for shooting for Season 4 in July. Copyright 2013 Hawaii News Now. All rights reserved.

What can you tell me about the upcoming Hawaii Five-0 prequel episode?

Mega Buzz: Apr 9, 2013 09:18 PM ET by Adam Bryant and Natalie Abrams McGarrett travels to North Korea to collect the remains of a fellow SEAL who died in the mission we saw a snippet of in the first episode of the series. Why does McGarrett go to such great lengths three years later? Let's just McGarrett is indirectly to blame for his partner's death. Several of the flashbacks play on father-son dynamics, which makes watching the re-contextualized scene of McGarrett talking to his dad for the last time even more brutal. http://www.tvguide.com/News/Mega-Buzz-Glee-Greys-Spoilers-1063830.aspx
